Introduction

Energy Sistem™ thanks you for buying your new eReader Screenlight. We hope you enjoy it! This new eReader features a 6" E-Ink screen and has a stylish and ultra-slim design (only 8.1mm of thickness and 160 grams of weight). This features, along with its advanced reading functions and 8GB of internal memory make it the perfect device for your reading sessions. We recommend you to read this manual in order to enjoy this product safely and getting the most out of its features.

In order to ensure your safety and the safety of others, please make sure to read all the safety information before using this product. Keep this information in a safe place for future references.

Precautions

We recommend reading the following points:

Create a back up periodically on other storage devices. Energy Sistem™ shall not be liable for any damage or loss of data.
Do not place the eReader near devices with strong magnetic fields. It may cause damage or loss of data.
Do not disassemble nor remodel the device.
Do not subject the device to shock nor let it fall to the ground.
Do not use the eReader in a humid environment nor if it is wet.
Do not put pressure on the eReaders display.
Do not remove the microSD card nor turn it off while reading or during data writing in order to prevent loss of data.
Make sure to unlock the microSD card before writing or deleting data.

Power supply / first use

Your eReader Screenlight has a rechargeable lithium battery. The battery is charged, but it is highly recommended to fully charge it before using the device for the first time. Recharge the battery by connecting the device to a wall outlet via USB charger (5V / 1A max.) or to your computer using the included microUSB cable. The charging time may vary (one to three hours). In order to keep the battery in good condition, do not let it charge for more than 8 hours.

Turning the device On and Off

To turn your eReader on, press the On/Off button for a few seconds. To turn it off, press the On/Off button again for a few seconds. Pressing the On/Off briefly will lock/unlock the eReader. While turned off or in lock mode the eReader will display an image on its screen. Do not worry, this will not consume the device's battery.

Función Screenlight.

The Screenlight function of your eReader lets you enjoy reading in low or no light, thanks to the soft LED backlight display. You can set this function even for use in daylight. Use it the way you feel more comfortable.

To set backlight level, press the button for a few seconds and select using the navigation keys, then press the center button "Select" to accept and exit. To quickly switch on or off the screenlight function, briefly press the button Screenlight . Every time you turn on or turn off this feature, your eReader screenlight remember the backlight level set, even if you turn the device off.

Recently read section. Features a progress bar.
Recently added section: Displays recently added books to the library.
Main icons.
Battery: Displays the eReader's battery level.
Date and time.

Main functions

Books

Displays all the books stored in the internal memory or microSD card.

Different visualization and book management options are available. These options are available through the options menu . Options:

Favourite books: Will only display books previously marked as favourites.
Search: Search for a specific book.
Sort by book title: Will display all books sorted in alphabetical order by their title.
Sort by author: Will display books by author.
Recently read: Will display recently read books.
Recently added: Will display recently added books to the eReader.
Show list: Will display all books in list format.
Show cover: Will display book covers including their title.

It is also possible to search for a specific book entering its title after pressing .

Advanced reading functions

There also are various options that can be set in order to make the reading experience more comfortable. These options are:

Add bookmark: Adds a bookmark to the page you are reading. This way you will be able to continue reading easily.
Bookmark: Displays all created bookmarks in the book.
Index: Access the book index (if available).
Go to page: Go to a specific page.
Search: Search one or multiple words in a book.
Font size: Choose one of six different font sizes.
Font type: Choose the desired font type.
Line spacing: Choose the desired line spacing.
Margin: Choose the desired margin.
Turn screen: Turn the display 90º to the right/left.
Auto flip: With this function, your eReader will be able to turn pages automatically after a period of time.
Page refresh: This function allows you to refresh every single page, every three or five pages.
Add to favourites: Adds the book you are reading to your favourite books list.
About the book: Shows information regarding the book you are reading (title, author, publisher, format).

Note: Not all eBook formats are compatible with these functions.

Images

Shows all image files stored in the device's internal memory or in the microSD card.

Once you access the image menu, you can choose to view the files as a list or as a thumbnail preview by pressing .

Press after opening an image and a pull-down menu with the following options will appear:

Turn left / right 90º
Zoom in / zoom out
Create a slide show using all stored images.
Image information: Displays image information (name, size, file type).

Files

Shows all folders and files stored in the device's internal memory or in the microSD card.
Press to search a specific file by entering its name, to delete files/folders or select whether you want to browse the internal memory or microSD card.

Settings

In this menu you will find the following sections:

Bookmarks: Displays all bookmarks (sorted by books) you have placed. This way you will be able to continue reading easily.
Power settings: Set the time to enter stand by and auto power-off mode.
eReader information: Displays the software version, the used and available storage space.
Language: Select one of the 13 available languages.
Date and time.
Restore default settings: The eReader will erase all custom settings and return to default settings (bookmarks, favourite books, etc. will be removed).

Search

Quickly find the file or files you are looking for. Enter the name of the file you are looking for and press OK. The device will display all matching files.

Update

You can update your eReader using your computer. The procedure is simple but must be done carefully and only if necessary.

Follow these steps to proceed with the update:

Make sure your eReader's battery is fully charged. Otherwise, connect your eReader to an external power supply using a USB charger (5V / 1Ah max.) or to your computer via USB and wait until the battery is fully charged.
Visit www.energysistem.com using your computer.
Go to the "support" section and select "eReader".
Choose your eReader model from the drop-down list and download the latest firmware version.

*Important:

Make sure the version you are downloading is specific to your eReader model and serial number. Otherwise it could damage the device.
Unzip the file on your computer.
Open the included text file and follow the instructions to install the new operating system on your eReader.

Troubleshooting

Is it possible to turn off the eReader without having an image on its screen?

The eReader will always have an image on its screen, but do not worry as it will not consume your eReaders battery. In addition to that, you can set another image to be displayed on the shut down screen.

I cannot change the font type of a pdf file

The pdf file is shown as created, with its own font types and sizes. Therefore you will not be able to commit any changes. This is the limitation you will have with this file format. However, you will be able to zoom in/out and browse through the book as if it was another format.

I cannot open an eBook

Check that your eReaders supports the eBook format.

The eReader is locked and does not respond.

Try pressing the reset button using a very thin object such as a paper clip. Then press the ON button.

The eReader does not show correctly the eBook characters, the space lining, etc.

This is due to the format the file has been digitalized in. Many eBooks are digitalized and formatted automatically without being reviewed. Use only reliable and quality content providers for the best reading experience.

Warranty conditions

Energy Sistem Soyntec S.A. is liable for any lack of conformity which exists at the time the goods were purchased during a period of 36 months. Batteries are excluded from the 36-month warranty, having a warranty period of 12 months.

This warranty covers any defects in workmanship or materials. This warranty does not cover any failure of the product due to accidents, misuse or alteration made by an unauthorized person.

The special 36-months warranty is valid for the European Union. For other countries, please refer to your specific legislation.
